03 — INFORMATION

Privacy policy

This policy covers the Remora Watches presentation website, our Shopify store, orders, the newsletter and our communications with you. The data processed depends on the services you use.

Controller and contact

Jean-Marc Moffa and Olivier Randin, trading as Remora Watches, Allée des Prés du Record 47, 1040 Échallens, Switzerland, are your contacts for processing carried out by Remora Watches. For questions or requests concerning your data, contact info@remora-watches.ch.

Presentation website and store

The presentation website uses OpenAI’s Sites hosting and its technical infrastructure. Shopify provides the store, cart, checkout and newsletter registration form. Following a store or newsletter link takes you to a Shopify service. Our contact email service uses Infomaniak.

Visiting the website may generate technical data including your IP address, browser, device, requested pages, connection time and security logs. Where authenticated access is required, the hosting provider also processes the data necessary for authentication.

Information you provide

Depending on your interactions, we process your name, contact details, billing and delivery addresses, messages, ordered items, transactions, returns and after-sales requests. If you use a customer account, Shopify also processes the information needed for that account.

Payment data is processed by Shopify and the relevant payment providers. We receive the information needed to monitor transactions and issue refunds, without retaining full payment card numbers.

Why we use this data

We use this information to answer enquiries, manage orders and payments, deliver products, handle returns and warranties, maintain security, prevent fraud and meet legal and accounting obligations.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing relies, as appropriate, on steps before entering into a contract or performance of a contract, a legal obligation, our legitimate interest in providing a secure service and defending our rights, or your consent.

Newsletter

The Shopify Forms registration form collects your email address and your choice to receive Remora news. We use this data to manage your subscription and send the communications you consented to receive. Purchasing a watch does not, by itself, subscribe you to the newsletter.

You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in messages or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect earlier processing or emails necessary to fulfil an order.

Cookies, videos and external links

The website and store may use cookies or similar technologies for operation, security, sessions and the cart. The presentation website embeds a YouTube video in privacy-enhanced mode through youtube-nocookie.com. Loading the player may communicate technical data to Google; this mode does not mean that no data is transmitted. Playing the video involves YouTube’s services.

Shopify’s measurement, personalisation or advertising features depend on the services enabled and, where required, your consent choices. This policy does not mean that Remora Watches has enabled all such features. Links to Instagram or other websites lead to services governed by their own policies.

You can manage or delete cookies in your browser and use privacy choices offered in the store where available. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent certain features from working. Further details are provided in our cookie policy.

Recipients and Shopify’s role

Relevant data may be shared with hosting and security providers, Shopify, payment, email and delivery providers, and our advisers or authorities where a legal obligation or the defence of our rights justifies this. We limit information shared to what is necessary for each recipient’s role.

Shopify processes data to provide services to our store. For certain services offered directly to users, Shopify may determine its own processing purposes. See Shopify’s privacy policy and privacy portal. External services’ processing is also described in the policies of OpenAI, Cloudflare and Google.

International processing

International providers may process data outside Switzerland, including in the European Economic Area, the United States and Canada, depending on the service and its subprocessors. Providers describe processing locations and transfer mechanisms in their privacy policies.

Where required by law and where a country is not recognised as providing adequate protection, transfers must be covered by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, or an applicable legal exception. You may ask us for further information about transfers of your data and the relevant safeguards.

Retention and security

We retain data for as long as necessary for the business relationship, handling your requests and applicable retention obligations, including accounting, and to resolve potential disputes. Newsletter data is used until you unsubscribe; information needed to respect your choice or demonstrate consent may be retained afterwards.

We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect data. No transmission or storage can, however, be guaranteed completely secure. Please do not send payment card details by email.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or a copy of your data, object to certain processing, request restrictions and withdraw consent. Legal obligations or other people’s rights may limit certain rights. We may request the information necessary to verify your identity before responding.

Send requests to info@remora-watches.ch. You may also complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Switzerland or the competent data protection authority in your country. Shopify’s privacy portal also allows certain rights to be exercised directly for its own processing.

Children and updates

Our services are not specifically directed at children. If you believe a child has inappropriately provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can review the situation.

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to services or applicable requirements. The update date appears on this page. Additional notice or renewed consent will be requested where required.
